remembering names…
August 30, 2009
Was at my friend Tinas birthdayparty yesterday. I’m not that good remembering names, so I tried a new technique. For every person I met, I thought of someone I already know with the same name. It worked. And after a while I didn’t have to think of the person I used as their reference.
These were at the party: David, Ingrid, Jørgen, Ellen, Ingvild, Vetle, Kari, Eivind, Joakim, Torstein, Geir, Nina, Inga, Andre, Ingrid, Torgeir, Astrid, Aaslaug, Jon Olav, Inger Agnete(Ia), Ane, Ina, Marc, Joseph, Renée, Cristina, Tina..
I knew nine of the guests already, some better than other of course. But learning 18 new names on one evening is pretty impressive I think…
And we had cake. From Somma. Probably the best pasticceria in the world. At least the best in Trondheim.
I won… stop.

Living and leaving alone…
August 18, 2009
I’m not used to live alone. Cooking for one, doing laundry for one. Not bothering if I work overtime. Killing strange bugs I never seen before, not being able to run in the other direction in panic and letting someone else take care of it. Now I’m the one who have to walk firmly to the apartment door in the middle of the night, open it with a sudden movement asking in an almost angry tone; What the … are you doing? Why are you trying to get into my apartment?
I have quite enjoyed this newfound freedom with responsibility. Until this Friday. I was out with some people from work. Great people, great fun and great music (as long as I was able to influence of course.) Then all of a sudden it was time to go home. This was new. Going home alone?
All of those other things, killing bugs and chasing drunks are okay, but going home alone is something I really need time to get used to.

In need of rescue…

Had the privilege to take a trip with RS 16 “Christiansund”. An old Rescue Boat build in 1901 by the legendary Colin Archer.

When people ask how it was, I answer with the same non sense kliche-like words. Fantastic, fabulous, great, magic…Perfect.
But when I give it a closer thought I see the image of Bono, with his hands placed on the back of his head, covering his face with his elbows… Emotional of the response of the 80 000 people in Croke park. Everyone with a close personal “relationship” with the four men on stage.
Seconds before this, our main man says “We had to make sure that this space ship could get us home.” And it sure did. Even I felt Irish. I can’t wait to go back for graduation.

In change
June 28, 2009
All of the sudden I’m in Kristiansund. Starting my new journalist job on wednesday. Alot to be happy about, except the sweet tobacco smell in my apartment. Have cleaned the walls, roof and floors twice. But they still smell really bad. Any idea how to get rid of it?
Times are changing. New place. New job. And hopefully, new friends.
